The maximum fee a Notary Public may charge is ten dollars ($10) per individual notarization. (Indiana Code 33-42-14-1). Notaries may bill a customer separately for incidental costs and services such as travel.
Notaries may charge no more than the federal mileage rate as a travel fee. The current federal mileage rate can be found by visiting the IRS website.
Notaries should inform clients in advance of any service fees that may be charged above the $10.00 per notarization fee.
